BATTLER BRITTON 2006
Battler Britton returned in 2006, published by Wildstorm (a D.C Comics partner) in America and created by the team of writer Garth Ennis and artist Colin Wilson (not to forget cover artist Garry Leach). Five issues were produced (see all covers here).
A really enjoyable five part series. I am hoping for more stories featuring Battler. Great art especially in the depiction of the aircraft and military equipment and the aerial battles looked great. Took me back to the great stories of the mighty Johnny Red in Battle comic. If Battler continues then i think the great Ian Kennedy should do some covers. Overall a cracking read. Tally Ho... Laurence Curtin (UK).
Iīve just read issue 5 and the story came to a blinding end with lots of action going off. Great graphics, very good colouring and a good storyline makes for a good read and I certainly want more. I hope sales of this series warrants a continuation and that the people involved also wants to have another crack at it. Battler Britton belongs to my childhood in the sixties and seventies and the character has gone through changes over the years. Initially he was a flagwaving Errol Flynn type of hero but later on his adventures had a darker edge to them. I liked both. This new incarnation is closer to the darker edged Battler and itīs also quite nice to experience him in colour this time around. I donīt have a problem with the format of the magazines since we had Battler in this very format for well over a decade in Sweden. So, thumbs up, thank you for bringing Battler back.
